Summary: If he doesn’t know love, I will teach him. If he isn’t ready to love yet, I will wait till he is. If he gets lost again, I will find him and bring him back. Because I love him, because I promised.

First of all I completely screwed the (canon) timeline over  to write this story, as well as several relationships. Want a few examples:

  • Tom is the same age as Hermione, Harry and several others.
  • James is Harry’s older brother instead of his father. Same for some other characters.
  • Changed some names example Voldemort’s birth name is Thomas “Tom(my)” Marvolo Riddle III because his father is Thomas “Tom” Alexander Riddle Jr. and his grandpa is Thomas Henry Riddle Sr.

Takes in world were Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald succeed in making their dream of establishing wizard dominance in the world and bringing muggles under wizarding control and guidance “for the greater good” come true.

Also included is background story which resolves around Merope.

Another point, Tom Riddle/Voldemort is portrayed as a unfeeling, unloving villain in canon, but it didn’t fit my story. He still is a megalomaniac, narcissistic, extremely independent psychopath, but to lesser degree then original Voldemort. At a certain point Tom is described as a handsome man “who’s good looks are only overcome by the majesty of his charisma.” Underneath his looks, Tom Riddle is fundamentally a dark, empty, nihilistic human being with little sense of morality, ethics or compassion. His actions are almost always based on his insatiable need to fill his own inner emptiness. However he does have/feels emotions and not just fear and hate, as he genuinely cares about his parents (in particular his mother), grandparents as well some members of his family’s staff being especially fond of Frank Bryce.
